NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, June 2: A woman was killed while her husband was injured when they jumped from a running train near Kot Laloo railway station on Wednesday. Kulsoom, 19, daughter of Abbas Wagah and Nasir, 25, son of Sher Mohammad Gondal, both residents of Chak-279, Jaranwala tehsil, Faisalabad district, jumped from 9-up Shaheen Express near Kot Laloo railway station.

As a result, Kulsoom died on the spot and Nasir sustained serious injuries.

The injured was admitted to the neurosurgery ward of the People’s Medical College hospital in Nawabshah.

Hussain, brother of Nasir, told reporters that Nasir and Kulsoom loved each other and they got married against the will of their families.

They had came Nawabshah to stay there.

He said when he and other family members told Kulsoom that she was being shifted to Punjab and would be handed over to her parents, she jumped from the rssunning train and Nasir also followed her.

Padidan railway police station SHO Hashim Rajpar told Dawn that body of Kulsoom was handed over to her parents after completing formalities under section 174 CrPC.

STPP: Activists of the Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party staged a protest demonstration against open sale of drugs and poor law and order situation in Moro on Thursday.

Abbas Khokhar and Khadim Abro led the protesters who were carrying placards raising slogans.

They said heroin, charas and others deadly narcotics were being openly sold in the interior of Sindh and future of the youth was in danger.

They demanded that police should take action against drug sellers and maintain law and order.
