KARACHI, June 2: Judge Arshad Noor Khan of the Anti-Terrorism Court No 3 issued on Thursday non-bailable warrants for the arrest of a town police officer and former station house officers of Kalakot and Baghdadi police stations for not attending the court proceedings despite repeated notices.

Mazhar Hussain, former TPO of Lyari, Shaukat Shahani, former SHO of Kalakot, and Saeed Rind, former SHO of Baghdai, were the prosecution witnesses in a case against the alleged accomplices of Rehman Dakait. They, however, did not turn up for recording their depositions in spite of the court orders.

The judge ordered the investigation officer, SI Mohammed Aslam, to arrest the three police officers and produced them before the court in handcuffs on the next date of hearing.

Meanwhile, the judge recorded the statement of fifth prosecution witness, head constable Manzoor Hussain, and put off the hearing till June 6.

Accused Nazeer alias Ballah, Khalilur Rehman, Sajjad, Mohammed Ali, Fareed, Baber and Iftikhar are charged with multiple charges, including extortion, attempt to murder and shootout with police.

According to the prosecution, the accused were extorting money from people on Faqir Mohammad Durra Khan Road on Jan 3 when a police party reached there.

JUNDULLAH: An Anti-Terrorism Court in Karachi on Thursday adjourned the hearing of trial against activists of Jundullah in ranger mobile attack case after cross-examination of prosecution witness, adds PPI.

ATC Judge Feroz Mehmood Bhatti, who is conducting trial in Central prision fixed June 9 for the next hearing. Special Public Prosecutors Iqtedar Ali Hashmi and Maula Bux Bhatti are representing the State.
