LAHORE, June 1: An 86th minute goal by Mohammad Nasir helped Railways score a hard-fought 2-1 win over Wohaib Club in the opener of the first national football Challenge Cup at Punjab University Old Campus on Wednesday. Wohaib Club missed some sitters in the first half with poor finishing as Railways remained on defensive.

Railways netted their first when Shahid Mehmood struck in the 59th minute. Wohaib restored parity in the 71st minute when Waqas banged home before Nasir scored the winner.

Three goals by striker Asif Nawaz enabled Panthers Club outclass Lahore City Club 4-0 in another match in Faisalabad.

Asif struck back-to-back goals in the 14th and the 39th minutes before Fahim Riaz made it 3-0 in the 56th minute. Asif scored his third in the 74th minute to seal the fate of the match.

Meanwhile, the matches which were to be played in Karachi were postponed on Wednesday because of law and order situation.

The matches will be played from June 4 at Agha Khan Gymkhana.
