BATTAGRAM: The Battagram administration has imposed section 144 in the district for a period of one month in an effort to maintain law and order during the upcoming general elections.

A notification issued from the office of deputy commissioner Fazal Khaliq said that brandishing, carrying and display of weapons at public places, polling stations and in the territorial limits of the district would be completely banned for one month under section 144 of CrPC. Similarly, sale and use of firecrackers in the district will also be banned.

The section 144 relates to powers to issue absolute order at once in urgent cases of nuisance or apprehended danger.

The district administration also asked the police to take strict action against violators of the ban under the relevant laws. The district administration’s decision to impose section 144 was taken to avoid any untoward incident during the general elections which will take place on July 25.
