ISLAMABAD, June 1: Acting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar on Wednesday directed the government to stop announcing fresh development projects or floating tenders for constituency PF-66 D.I.Khan unless the forthcoming by-election is complete.

In a directive issued to ensure free, fair and transparent elections, the acting CEC said the federal and NWFP governments should not use state resources in the constituency for unfair advantage to any political party or a contesting candidate.

Both the governments have also been directed not to use influence affecting the interest of any contesting candidate.

According to the directive, the executive authorities could not transfer any civil servants in D.I.Khan unless the by-election in the constituency is complete.

WINNERS: Meanwhile, the acting CEC declared Sardar Fateh Muhammad Muhammad Hassani, son of Haji Gul Muhammad Muhammad Hassani, as a successful candidate to the National Assembly from NA-271 Kharan-cum-Panjgur in the by-election held on May 28, 2005.

Sardar Fateh Muhammad Muhammad Hassani secured 25,249 votes while runner up Abdul Khalique Baloch obtained 16,023 votes.
