PESHAWAR: Pakistan Muslim League-Q’s Peshawar president Javed Naseem has asked for accountability of the corrupt politicians before the general elections so that the voters will vote for the honest candidates.

This he said while speaking at a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Saturday. On the occasion, Milli Muslim League candidate announced support to Mr Naseem, who is a candidate from PK-78.

The former lawmaker said he had served the people with full devotion but the provincial government always created hurdles in release of development funds to him.

Mr Naseem, who was elected on a PTI ticket, said the holding of elections before accountability of corrupt politicians would be of no use as maximum of the corrupt elements would manage to come to the national and provincial assemblies.

He said PTI had raised the slogan of change and accountability and established Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission but it badly failed to arrest all those involved in corruption during the previous coalition government of ANP and PPP in the province.

The PTI, he said had wasted the five years merely on hollow claims and did nothing for welfare of common people. He said the former provincial government destroyed the provincial economy and its infrastructure which made lives of the people miserable.

He appreciated the Milli Muslim League leaders for extending him support in the election and expressed the hope that the area people would vote for him. He said the public should cast vote on the basis of merit to reject those involved in corruption.
