LAHORE, June 27: Pakistan suffered their third consecutive defeat in the Champions Trophy hockey tournament in Breda when host Holland outplayed them 4-0 in according to information received here on Wednesday.

Netherlands, which proved a strong team as they thrashed Belgium 6-1, showed no mercy for Pakistan and completely dominated the game.

It may be mentioned here that Pakistan had lost to India (0-4), Australia (1-2) earlier in the tournament.

Netherlands dominated the play for large periods, repeatedly entering the opponent’s territory through fast and well coordinated moves.

They had a number of open play opportunities plus four penalty corners, scoring two goals in each half. Pakistan had a few circle penetrations but hardly ever threatened the Dutch.

At times, especially in the second half, they appeared completely clueless.

For the Dutch, the scorers were Robbert Kemperman (14 minute), Valentin Verga (29 minute), Thijs van Dam (47 minute) and Mirco Pruijser (50 minute).

In the only other match of the day, Olympic champions Argentina drew with Belgium 1-1.
