Minor bikers

Published June 20, 2018

TRAFFIC authorities in Karachi should pay attention to the burgeoning number of minors riding motorcycles on busy roads. Children as young as eight can be seen riding motorcycles with many of their friends sitting behind them.

This is in clear violation of traffic rules and regulations. In older areas of the city, this issue has led to a number of road accidents. Many pedestrians, mostly senior citizens, have been critically injured in these accidents, while the children on these bikes tend to escape the scene.

In the thrill of riding, children often forget that they, too, can be injured by their antics. The relevant authorities are earnestly requested to introduce stricter measures to deal with children who ride motorcycles on the main roads without having valid licences.
