Scholarship for GIK students

SWABI, May 30: A delegation of the Petronas University of Technology, Malaysia, interviewed graduate students of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology for awarding scholarships. A spokesman for the GIK Institute said on Monday that the delegation, comprising Petronas’ education vice-president Dr Rosti Saruawono, director post-graduate studies Dr Ahmad Fadzil Mohammad Hani and officer in charge of the chemical engineering programme Dr Zakaria Man, gave a briefing about the Petronas education programme.

The dean of the faculty of mechanical engineering, Dr Javed A Chattha, briefed the delegation about the GIK Institute, faculties, labs and imparting of engineering education to the young students.

The spokesman said they discussed the mutual collaboration and interaction and possible inking of memorandum of understanding for interaction in future by the two institutes.

The interviewed students, he said, were expected to join the Petronas within a month and their names would be finalized soon.

AWARDED: The Pakistan Tobacco Company gave Rs90,000 reward to those students of the GIK Institute who gave best project presentations during an Open House.

A cheque awarding ceremony was held at the institute and both the PTC officials and academicians of the institute attended it.

The students who received the rewards belonged to the faculty of computer science engineering, mechanical engineering and electronic engineering.

There were three rewards for each faculty. The first reward was Rs15,000; second Rs10,000; and third Rs5,000.
