KARAK: Jamaat-i-Islami, Karak chapter president Maulana Tasleem Iqbal has said that the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal has not yet issued poll tickets to any candidate in the district.

Talking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, he said they had held a meeting with JI chief Sirajul Haq a couple of days ago and informed him about the situation prevailing in the district.

Mr Iqbal said the ticket for PK-85, Karak-I, might be issued to the JI hopeful retired Col Mohammad Khan, adding that Sirajul Haq would take up the issue of ticket distribution with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

He claimed that the MMA would be able to issue tickets by Thursday (today). He added that those who were claiming to have got MMA tickets were wrong.

The JI district president said four tickets of MMA would be given to the candidates of his party in the southern districts and added that share in tickets would be given to all the component parties of MMA.

ROYALTY FUNDS SOUGHT: The elders of Latamber union council have demanded the release of its share of Rs150 million of oil and gas royalty for the uplift of the region. They regretted that the union council had been ignored in the royalty funds for last 12 years.

The demand was made at a meeting on Wednesday.

The elders said that Latamber was included administratively in Karak tehsil, but fell in the PK-86 constituency which was not part of Karak subdivision, therefore, they had been kept deprived of royalty funds.

They complained that the elected representatives were least interested in ensuring royalty funds to the union council. They said the roads in the area were in bad shape and the drinking water had become the most expensive commodity for the people.

The elders demanded that water supply to the union council should be made from the Changhoz dam.
