PESHAWAR: The workers of Pakistan People’s Party from provincial assembly constituency PK-67 Peshawar have demanded of party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the parliamentary board to review its decision regarding award of ticket in the constituency otherwise they will not poll vote to the party candidate in the upcoming general elections.

Addressing a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Monday, Liaquat Khan Khattak, PPP former president from PK-8, said that the workers had very serious reservation over award of ticket to an outsider to contest the polls from their constituency.

He said that merit was ignored in award of PPP ticket in PK-67 constituency.

He said that workers would not support the PPP nominee. He alleged that the party parliamentary board awarded of ticket to Razaullah Chagharmati, the brother of former deputy speaker of provincial assembly and PPP leader Kiramatullah Chagharmati, to contest polls from PK-67.

Mr Khattak said that the candidate had no relevance to the constituency. He also questioned award of ticket to Asma Alamgir.

He said that PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appeared before the parliamentary board that reflected transparency in award of tickets.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the tickets were awarded to those candidates, who did not appear before the parliamentary board, he added.

Flanked by PPP workers Sohail Ahmad Khan, Seemaab Khan, Tariq Khan and others, Mr Khattak said the decision to award ticket to an outsiderwould damage the party in the constituency.

“We won’t allow any of the outsiders to contest polls from PK-67,” he said and asked the party leadership to review the decision, otherwise they would not cast vote to the party candidate in the general elections.

Speaking on the occasion, Sohail Khan said that the party had ignored the ideological workers in awarding poll tickets. He said that a conspiracy was being hatched to damage PPP. He said that PPP leadership should take decisions on the basis of ground realities to save the party from destruction.

Mr Khan demanded of PPP parliamentary board and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to review the decision regarding award of ticket in PK-67.
