Iran spikers arrive

ISLAMABAD, May 29: An Iranian team arrived on Sunday to compete in the Asian Men’s Club volleyball championship that is due to open here on Wednesday (June 1). Uzbekistan had arrived earlier on Saturday for the championship that will have seven club sides competing for honours.

A team from Thailand was due to land in Lahore late on Sunday evening while Kazakhstan and China were expected to arrive on Monday.

The travel plans of the Indian spikers were not clear yet, officials said.

India and Thailand are to set the weeklong championship rolling at the Liaquat Gymnasium with hosts Pakistan taking on Uzbekistan and Iran facing off China.
