KARACHI, May 29: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has threatened of protests if the prices of fuel were not cut and steps not taken in the coming budget to reduce price hike. MMA leader and the JI Karachi chief, Dr Merajul Huda, addressing a big public gathering in Defence Society further said so-called enlightened moderation had made the lives of the masses even more miserable.

He said the recent report of the State Bank showed the hollowness of the tall claims of the rulers.

He said the price hike had touched a record peak during the last five years, while inflation had risen to 11 per cent. About 150 million educated people in the country were jobless, he added.

The MMA leader said the poor people were deprived of even a one-time meal while luxury vehicles worth Rs4 billion were being imported for ministers.

Dr Bin Yameen Khaild, Chaudhry Aslam and others also spoke.—PPI
