Pakistan has to think both short and long term about water conservation. For short term water tankers should be increased to supply water to all areas which do not have water in pipe lines. For long term Pakistan should plan and build water storage facilities underground, so when there are floods,or heavy rains, water can be stored. Grey water ( water from kitchen sinks and showers) should be re-cycled for landscaping. Commercial incentives should be given to install Reverse Osmosis Plants in coastal areas, like Karachi, to supply both potable water for citizens and non-potable water for other uses. All new construction should incorporate, rainwater harvesting, drip farming should be given more incentives. There is a lot Pakistan can do both on a individual level and on national level. The common man has to know more water conservation, which should be discussed on television with experts, in the mean time good people like the German Ambassador can keep us posted with good habits.
