Six killed in two accidents

HYDERABAD, May 28: Six people including a woman and a young girl and two employees of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences were killed and three others were injured in two separate road accidents here on Saturday.

Four people, two of them brothers, were killed after their pick-up collided with a Quetta-bound bus (LXX-6191) in the jurisdiction of Hatri police station.

The bus driver was trying to save a woman, Seeta, when it collided with the pick-up (G-2080).

The deceased included Seeta, 35, wife of Pehlaj, her seven-year-old daughter Jamna, Tahir, son of Mohammad Khalid, and his brother Jan Mohammad.

They were residents of Pathan colony. The bus driver fled from the scene.

In another accident, within jurisdiction of Jamshoro police station the trolley of a fertilizer laden trailer (PRO 05537) fell on a van (GL-0088), carrying employees to Latifabad as trailer’s driver could not control the vehicle.

The van also was burnt due to sparking in the trailer, causing deaths of Khalid Sheikh, son of Mohammad Umer, personal assistant to LUMHS controller.

The injured included Dr Siraj Sheikh, Yaseen, telephone operator and driver, Ali Mohammad.

The Madadgar police rushed to the spot to extinguish the fire and retrieve the bodies.
