PESHAWAR, May 27: The Pakistan People’s Party on Friday severely criticized the ruling Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal alliance and claimed that its policies were ineffective and unpopular as the problems of the masses were increasing every day. In a press release issued here on Friday, Sikandar Hayat Sherpao, provincial secretary of a splinter faction of the PPP, said that the MMA had deceived the people in the name of Islam. He accused it of whipping up slogans to hoodwink the masses.

Mr Sherpao told a visiting delegation of PPP office-bearers from Malakand agency that the ruling alliance had done nothing for the welfare of the common people. Other PPP leaders also spoke on the occasion.—Bureau
