SWABI: Zahir Dad, a leader of Swabi Qaumi Mahaz (SQM), and youth councillor from Maneri Bala area, who was seriously injured in a firing incident three days ago, succumbed to his injuries at the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar on Monday.

Mr Dad was close to former MPA Babar Saleem, and was elected as youth councillor in the last local government elections.

Three days ago, when he along with his relative, Munazir Khan, and two others was on way to Swabi from Peshawar in a car, rivals chased their car and opened fire on them near Swabi interchange on the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway. Both Mr Dad and Mr Munazir were seriously injured in the incident.

Gul Bahar, a nephew of the deceased, said that Mr Dad succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning and was laid to rest in ancestral graveyard later in the day.

The deceased left behind a widow, two sons and four daughters to mourn his death.
