QUETTA: Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo and Leader of Opposition in the Balochistan Assembly Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal have failed to reach a consensus on the name of caretaker chief minister.

The two leaders commenced their third round of talks late on Saturday night and discussed five names during the meeting which continued for several hours.

The government side proposed the names of Prince Ahmed Ali Ahmedzai, Alauddin Marri and Kamran Murtaza, while the opposition leader suggested the names of former speaker of the Balochistan Assembly Aslam Bhootani and former ambassador Ashraf Jahangir Qazi.

Mr Bizenjo said: “We want to select an educated and apolitical person who will make his utmost efforts to hold impartial elections.”

Sources said that the two leaders even failed to shortlist the names, which showed serious differences between them.

“No more talks between Mr Bizenjo and Mr Ziaratwal are expected in this regard,” sources told Dawn, adding that the issue might be referred to the parliamentary committee for taking a decision.
