KARACHI, May 27: The Sindh High Court on Friday adjourned hearing of petition against detention of Chairman, Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum Mohammad Ali Shah and others under Maintenance of Public Order on request of state counsel. Additionnal Advocate General Ahmed Ali Pirzada sought time from court for filing comments.

SHC’s division bench, comprising Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Azizullah M Memon, granting request fixed the matter till June 1.

Mohammad Ali Shah, Sultan Ahmed alias Sami Memon, Jamal Mustafa Shoro, Allah Dino Mallah and Mohammad Mallah were arrested on May 16 in Hyderabad after a demonstration against contract system.

Their counsel Rasheed A Rizvi submitted that the government the fishermen were released on bail by Magistrate Court-II, Hyderabad, thus the rearrest was illegal, unauthorized and mala fide in nature.—PPI
