PESHAWAR, Oct 3: Out of the Rs 1030 million annual development programme (ADP) for the federally administered tribal areas (Fata) , Rs257.713 million will be spent on improvement of communication network in the tribal belt bordering the NWFP.
According to official documents which were released a few days ago, the amount allocated for communication sector is 25 per cent of the total size of the ADP for the 2001-02 financial year.
According to agency-wise allocation, South Waziristan Agency will be allocated Rs152.218 million, Khyber Agency— Rs132.514 million, Kurram Agency—Rs113.459 million, Orakzai Agency—Rs 111.666 million, North Waziristan Agency—Rs110.869 million, Bajaur Agency—Rs86.559 million, Mohmand Agency-Rs84.606 million and the frontier regions (FRs) - Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, Lakki, Tank and DI Khan will get Rs102.34 million.
The ADP includes social action programme (SAP).
Sector-wise, communication sector is on top of the ADP and Rs 257.713 million has been allocated for improving the condition of roads and for building 11 bridges in the area.
Education sector will get Rs243.162 million, health- Rs143.000 million, public health engineering—Rs128.000 million, housing—Rs16.713 million, power—Rs 48.125 million, agriculture—Rs 26.802 million, forests—Rs 83.679 million, rural development-Rs 17.476 million, research and development—Rs 7.087 million and regional development-Rs58.243 million.
Construction of 99 new primary schools and 60 female community schools for tribal agencies have been approved in the ADP. Besides, 48 primary schools will be upgraded to middle status, 43 middle schools will be upgraded to higher status and four high schools will be upgraded to higher secondary level.
In health sector, 66 mother-child health centres, two agency headquarters hospitals and two tehsil headquarters hospitals and one rural health centre will be established in Fata.
In power sector,Wapda will electrify 22 villages and install 60 transformers in the area. Besides, 40.05 miles high-transmission lines and 56.18 miles low- transmission lines will be installed in Fata.
In farm sector, 14 agriculture shows will be organized, 32,100 fruit plants will be distributed among farmers and 293 demonstration plots will be laid out in three agencies.
In forestry sector, 15,184 acres will be brought under bloc plantation and nurseries over an area of 59.93 acres will be set up.
