KARACHI: Discarded Pakistan wicket-keeper/batsman Mohammad Rizwan kept Karachi Gymkhana in the hunt for a last-eight place with a fighting knock as the tournament hosts defeated Ashfaq Memorial Hospital by four wickets in the 33rd Karachi Gymkhana Ramazan Cricket Festival for the Omar Associates Trophy here on Friday.

Batting first in the Group ‘C’ fixture at the Karachi Gymkhana Ground, Ashfaq Memorial were dismissed for 121 in 19.5 overs with Hafiz Shahid (30) and Haseeb-ur-Rehman being their chief run-getters.

Off-spinner Shaz Shahjani bagged three wickets for 18 runs with slow left-armer Haider Ali taking three for 28.

Rizwan then shepherded Karachi Gymkhana’s chase with an undefeated 50-ball 56 laced with five boundaries and a six to finish the game in the penultimate over. He was adjudged man-of-the-match.
