THE Federal Board of Revenue is among Pakistan’s important institutions playing a key role in the nation’s financial affairs. Being an important institution, it must be equipped with the best resources including human capital.
The officers recruited in grade-16 of the customs department in 2017 by the Federal Public Service Commission are serving in uncertain conditions in the absence of a laid-down service structure.
The officers appointed in grade-16 are facing numerous issues like poor working environment, the posting of ministerial staff along with the executive staff in different sections and multiple assignments. However, the most troubling issue is that of promotion.
Keeping in mind the past record of promotion and advancement of non-gazzetted and middle-cadre officers their promotion chances are bleak. The FBR authorities and finance ministry should resolve this issue on priority.
