Dean of the diplomatic corps, Turkmen Ambassador Atajan Movlamov, hosted a luncheon in farewell of the Greek ambassador on behalf of the diplomatic community in Marriott Hotel’s Crystal Ball Room.

The event was attended by fellow ambassadors and high commissioners, the United Nations coordinator, and dignitaries, including the chief of protocol of the Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As the tradition requires, a beautifully carved chest with engraved names on a copper plate of the envoys that Greek Ambassador Dimitrios Zoitos had served with in Pakistan, was donated to him along with flowers and good words.

Mr. Zoitos is a seasoned diplomat with broad experience from several countries, including as ambassador in Stockholm and a counsellor in Moscow.

He thanked his colleagues for excellent cooperation during this term of service in Pakistan, and he noted that Greece is now on economic recovery after several difficult financial years. It is an important member of EU and NATO.

In his speech, the dean, Mr Movlamov thanked the outgoing envoy for having been a particularly good colleague.

The Chief of Protocol Sahibzada Ahmad Khan – himself Pakistan’s High Commissioner designate to the UK – in his speech thanked the ambassador and wished him a well-deserved rest at home in Athens before his next posting.
