WE are the voice of about 30,000 PTCL pensioners including widows and orphans former employees of the PTCL before its privatisation) who are in great financial crisis since July 2010 as we get less than 40pc annual increase in the pension granted by the government in the budget.
Besides increase in the pension, we don’t get any other incentive payment or allowance such as medical allowance etc. Whenever the government announces an increase on July 1, we get 40pc raise in the pay in December after so many appeals.
This has been continuing for the last eight years. It is very difficult to pull on with a meagre pension. Many of our colleagues are dead while those between the age group of 70 and 80 years find it hard to pull on. AS regards myself my age is 77 years and I served P&T, T&T, PTC and PTCL Department as a meritorious employee for more than 40 years.
We request the Chief Justice of the apex curt to look into the problem.
