KARACHI, May 25: Fine centuries by Hamzaul Hasan and Anan Arif laid the foundation of Zone-I Whites’ crushing 241-run win against Zone-V Greens in the KCCA Under-19 Inter-zonal cricket championship tie at the Student Sports ground on Tuesday.
Batting first, Zone-I Whites amassed 377 for five in their quota of 50 overs. Hamza led the way with 145 that included 16 fours and two sixes. Anan, son of ex-Test wicket-keeper Taslim Arif, hit 17 boundaries on his way to 117.
Zone-V Greens were all out for 136 in reply. Off-spinner Tabish Nawab captured five for 39 with good support from slow left-armer Ahmed Iqbal Khan who took four for 45.
In another fixture played at the Pak Star ground, Zone-VI Blues defeated Zone-IV Whites by four wickets.
