PESHAWAR, May 25: The provincial spokesman for the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has asked the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) not to make the participation of the opposition leader in the National Assembly, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani in the National Security Council meeting a matter of ego.

Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, MMA spokesman Mufti Kifayatullah said that five component parties of the MMA had already supported the participation of Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Mr Durrani in the NSC meeting.

He said that some leaders of the JI including NWFP Senior Minister Sirajul Haq and Senator Mohammad Ibrahim had opposed participation in the council meeting.

He said it had not been decided whether or not Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Mr Durrani would attend the NSC meeting.
