50 hurt as bus overturns

SAHIWAL, Jan 8: As many as 50 people sustained injuries on Tuesday when a bus overturned on the Lahore-Multan Road.

The bus was on its way to Multan from Lahore when it overturned after straying off the road near Katerewala turn. Of the 50 injured, 17 were admitted to the DHQ Hospital in precarious condition.

They were identified as Zahid Iqbal, Farhan, Rafique, Hamid, Taufiq, his wife Fauzia and daughter Bushra, Dilawar, Naseer Ahmad, Tariq Irshad, Wapda official Abdul Ghafoor, Sheikh Saleem, his wife Munazza and daughter Ismat, Suleman Butt and Abdul Waheed.

SHOT DEAD: A labourer was shot dead while his brother and father injured by dacoits on resistance in Husain Colony early Tuesday.

Amjad and his family were asleep in the house when the dacoits stormed in and collected cash and valuables. Seeing the inmates resisting, they resorted to firing. Amjad died instantly while his brother Rao Muhammad Aslam and father Amin sustained injuries. The intruders fled with the valuables.

Farid Town police have instituted a case.

SUICIDE: A man on Tuesday hanged himself over financial restraints in Chak 90/9-L.

Amanat had married sometime back. Already unemployed, his parents asked him to live in an independant house. His wife left him due to financial worries.

On Tuesday, he locked himself in a room and hanged himself.

Grain Market police handed over the body to the relatives after the autopsy.
