PESHAWAR: The police on Wednesday issued a high security alert for the provincial capital about a possible terror attack in the city.

A spokesperson for the city police said that the security of the provincial capital had been put on high alert over possible terror threat. He said police personnel had been deployed at sensitive installations and important places all over the city for their security.

The spokesperson said that leaves of police personnel and officers had also been cancelled while police personnel and mobile squads, including rider squads, rapid response force and quick response force, had also been directed to carry out patrolling to tackle any emergency situation.

He said that City Police Chief Qazi Jamilur Rehman had directed the officials to set up snap checking points in order to ensure peace in the city.

He said that security alert had been issued in view of threats of possible terrorist activity from the foreign intelligence agencies and terrorist organisations. He said that the police officers had been directed to maintain high alert in their respective jurisdictions.
