LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), May 22: At least three persons sustained injuries when two rival groups of the Agency Headquarters Hospital staff clashed over appointment of a supervisor for the Extended Programme on Immunization (EPI) in Landi Kotal. Hospital sources said that president of Hospital Paramedical Staff, Fazlur Rehman, also exchanged hot words with Agency Surgeon Dr Azeem for removing one of his relatives, Taal-e-Muhammad, from the post of Tehsil Supervision EPI.

The health officials have recently appointed Mujeebur Rehman as tehsil supervisor of EPI. He allegedly happens to be a relative of a clerk of the hospital’s medical superintendent (MS).

Fazlur Rehman and his armed relatives attacked the hospital clerk in the office of the medical superintendent. The MS could not be approached as he was away at that time. Window panes of the offices were smashed in the scuffle.

Later, the matter was brought under control after intervention of some members of the Agency Council.

Meanwhile local elders and political circles have condemned the incident and demanded an enquiry against those who brought weapons inside the hospital.
