KARACHI, May 22: PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari has said that any further delay in announcing free, fair and transparent elections in the country could jeopardize the federation and its integrity.

In a statement issued from Bilawal House here on Sunday, Mr Zardari said: “It is imperative to hold general elections before a demand for plebiscite comes from every nook and corner of the country.”

He said it was ironic that the rulers were trying hard to pluck away the patriotic approach from the hearts of people through their undemocratic and biased policies while the nexus of ‘quack politicians’, extremists and elements of the Establishment was carving out a very grim future for Pakistan.

Mr Zardari appealed to the people of all four provinces and AJK to forge unity in the face of the conspiracies being hatched against the country and its future.
