SWABI: Former provincial minister of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Ghafoor Khan Jadoon and PPP leader Dr Mohammad Aqil said here on Thursday that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders had failed to fulfil the pledges, including construction of Utla dam, they had made with the masses.

Talking to this correspondent, the two leaders said that the issue of Utla dam had been pushed into cold storage after change of priorities when the delimitation of new constituencies was announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The PTI government has started work on two small dams in the Gadoon Amazai region. The Kundal Dam is near completion while construction of Bada Dam was inaugurated in February.

“Instead of addressing a public meeting in government high school ground, Swabi, Imran Khan should come to Utla and inaugurate the Utla dam and fulfil the pledge made by PTI leaders with the people during 2013 election,” said Mr Jadoon.

He said that in fact the exchequer was empty and the announcement made about Utla dam was just a hollow slogan. Mr Aqil alleged that land for Kundal Dam and Bada Dam had been bought from the people at lower prices. He said that the affected people of the two small dams had not been compensated.

Javid Inqilabi, former district president of PPP, said at a gathering on Thursday that the leaders of his party had always delivered to the masses.

Meanwhile, PTI completed preparations for its public meeting being held today (Friday). Party chairman Imran Khan and other leaders would speak on the occasion.

Anwar Haqdad said that Mr Khan would inaugurate the completed building of University of Swabi and Baja Sports Complex and later he would address the public meeting at the high school ground in the district headquarters. Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and other party leaders would accompany the PTI Chief.
