KARACHI: The preparations for the 17th edition of Sindh Games have nearly been completed and the athletes from different cities of the province have started arriving in the metropolis to showcase their talent in the extravaganza which begins on Thursday at fifteen different venues of the city.

Members of the organising committee of Sindh Games on Tuesday reviewed the preparations at different venues where various events will take place and were satisfied with the progress.

Full contingents from Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas and Benazirabad are expected to reach Karachi on Wednesday.

Boarding and lodging arrangements for the female athletes have been made in a hotel in Saddar as well as the National Coaching Centre while male athletes will be accommodated at hotels near Lyari, at Cantt Station and in Youth Hostel and at the Islahuddin Hockey Academy.

The organisers have already extended kits, tracksuits and shoes for all athletes to their respective division coordinators.

The opening ceremony of the Sindh Games will be held at the National Coaching Center and Governor Sindh Mohammad Zubair will be the chief guest on the occasion.

Different athletes will participate in the torch relay ceremony. The torch relay will start from Quaid’s Mausoleum and would reach National Coaching Center for the opening ceremony.

The closing ceremony will also be held at National Coaching Centre on April 22. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah will be the chief guest on the occasion.
