Only two weeks after joining Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP), former Muttahida Qaumi Movement lawmaker Waseem Hussain on Monday announced to abandon PSP and rejoin MQM.

Earlier this month, Hussain told a press conference at the PSP headquarters in Hyderabad that he had parted ways with the MQM since "all its leaders were fighting one another to get control of the party for their own sake".

However, MNA Waseem Hussain, who was elected from a Hyderabad constituency (NA-220), retracted his earlier statements and said he was not “spiritually” a part of PSP. “My soul is with MQM. I am committed to Mohajir politics because people in other provinces cast vote on lingual bases," he claimed.

Hussain had earlier said that he decided to work from the platform of PSP, as it was the only party which was working for the welfare of the people of Karachi and Sindh.

Speaking at the occasion, MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar reiterated his demand and requested Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa to give him time for a meeting so that he could present his viewpoints before them that the upcoming elections in Karachi were being “engineered”.

Earlier on Sunday, ending all hopes of reconciliation with the Mustafa Kamal-led party, Sattar had alleged that the elected representatives of his party were being forced to quit the MQM, saying he will rather “die” than joining the PSP.
