APROPOS the news item ‘No politics acceptable in the social sectors of Balochistan: CJP’ (April11). The Chief Justice has done a commendable job by taking up the case of Balochistan’s deprivation. It is heartening that the CJP has focused on the most deprived area, the social sector.
Unfortunately, the government put neither education nor the health sector on its priority list or gave these important sectors any serious thought.
The provincial government has also failed miserably to provide safe drinking water to the Baloch. What also contributed to aggravate the deprivation of the province is Balochistan politicians’ apathy towards the people.
It’s because of these grim realities that Balochistan lags behind other provinces and remains economically backward despite its huge contribution to the economic development of Pakistan. The CJP’s action in this regard is a step in the right direction.
