SWABI: Awami National Party provincial chief Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti claimed on Thursday that his was the only party which had been fighting for the rights of Pakhtuns.

He was addressing a public meeting here at the government high school ground. The movement for the Pakhtuns’ rights would continue, he said, adding that Sindhis supported Sindhi political leaders, Punjabis backed the Punjabi leaders and Pakhtuns should back ANP.

“If we come to power, there would be a university in every district. The menace of unemployment would be controlled and the corrupt leaders of PTI would be made accountable,” he said, adding that they would secure power royalty from the federal government at any cost.

Mr Hoti claimed that ANP would get overwhelming majority in the upcoming general elections. He alleged that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf had failed to deliver according to the pledges it had made with the people in 2013 election.

He asked the PTI chief to fulfil his pledge of constructing 300 small dams in the province before the election. He said that Pakhtuns should be given due status and they should not be mistreated in other parts of the country.

Claims his party will form next govt in province

He also said that ANP had planned to convene a multiparty conference on ‘Pakhtuns rights’ in Peshawar soon.

The ANP leader claimed that their party had regained its old position in the province and the situation was quite conducive for it to win majority seats in the next election and form government in the province.

He said that it was sufficient to prove the failure of PTI that its ministers and lawmakers blamed each others for indulging in corruption. District president Ameer Rehman and other local leaders said that the future belonged to them and they would win the coming elections.

ARRESTED: Police on Thursday arrested two alleged female thieves who belonged to Ghazi, a sub-division of Haripur district.

Officials said that Rahim Shah, a resident of Gandaf village, had registered an FIR two days ago that two women deprived him of Rs200,000 when he was travelling along with them in an auto-rickshaw from his village to Topi.

The police arrested the women, identified as Rehana and Sheiba, and recovered the looted money from them.
