Seat for Muzaffarabad

Published May 19, 2005

MUZAFFARABAD, May 18: The Cabinet on Tuesday approved an additional Legislative Assembly seat for Muzaffarabad district on the basis of its population but deferred a proposal to create a sixth constituency in Kotli district. Earlier, Muzaffarabad had only six seats whereas Mirpur and Bhimber districts had seven seats, even though their combined population was lower than Muzzafarabad’s.

The Cabinet also constituted a committee to examine a bill aimed at withdrawing the facility of medical treatment abroad for lawmakers at public expenditure.—Staff Correspondent
