LAHORE, Oct 13: A competitive card of six events has been drawn up for the 6th Lahore Winter Meeting to be held at the Racecourse Sunday.

For the first time during the on-going Lahore Meetings, the events will be contested over the distance of seven furlongs. This will make the winner picking a bit more difficult for the punters because many animals may not have liking for this extended distance.

In all, 69 acceptors have been declared eligible for the events and should be competing barring last-minute withdrawals.

The main event, the Havelian Plate is a class IV & V combined handicap race and has 14 acceptors. On current form and on the basis of performances of those runners, four runners come into reckoning, Lake District, Great Grandy, Apple Of My Eye and Dahis Again come into reckoning..

If nothing goes wrong and handled with care by the jockey then Lake District should make amends for last week’s poor showing and emerge winner. Last Sunday (Oct 7) chestnut gelding Lake District had gone wide when the runners turned for the final bend and had finished third. Riding boy Shahid Mustafa, was reprimanded by the Lahore Race Club (LRC) stewards for his unsatisfactory performance.

The first race will begin at 12.30 pm.
