LAHORE: A teacher was suspended from service for allegedly subjecting a class-VII student to physical torture on Wednesday.

Humair Baloch, a student of the Government Central Model School, Rattigan Road, was injured when his Elementary School Teacher (EST) Shahid Tufail beat him with a club over a fight with a classmate.

The student was hospitalised after he receiving an injury to his finger.

Elementary District Education Officer Malik Ehsan took notice of the incident and suspended the teacher from service and also ordered an inquiry under Peeda against him.

Talking to Dawn, he said the teacher had beaten the student with a club and fractured his finger.

He said no one would be allowed to torture students and strict action would be taken against the teacher.
