LAHORE, May 16: The 53rd national weightlifting championships, a day and night event, will be held at the Railways Stadium on May 27 and 28. Competitions will be held in the weight categories of 56kgs, 62, 69,77 on first day and in 85, 94, 105 and above 105kgs on the second day.

An official of the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation said that according to the changes made by the international body recently, the weight of the barbell must be a multiple of 1.0kgs instead of 2.5kg. The progression after any successful attempt for the same athlete must be a minimum of 1.0kg instead of 2.5kg.

The discs must be of the following weights and colours: 25kg (red), 20kg (blue), 15kg (yellow), 10kg (green), five kg (white) 2.5kg (black), two kg (chrome) one kg (brown), 0.5kg (orange).

Teams from Balochistan, NWFP, Sindh, Islamabad and outstations weightlifters of Punjab will be provided accommodation at the Railways Stadium, the spokesman said.
