KARACHI: A 22-year-old man was shot dead in a Korangi locality allegedly by his ‘friend’ late on Friday night, police said.

Korangi SHO Inayatullah Marwat said that Shahrukh was gunned down by Moiz inside the latter’s home in Zia Colony. The police arrested the suspect and seized a pistol from his possession.

The officer added that during initial probe the held suspect told investigators that they were “playing” with the pistol when the gun went off and a bullet hit him. He sustained critical wound and was taken to nearby Indus Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The SHO said that the suspect was a friend of the victim.

He had gone there to meet his friend when the incident occurred.

The suspect has the licence of the pistol.

The police are investigating the case.

Victim approaches police

Police on Saturday said that one victim has approached them to help bring to justice the four arrested accused who were held over charges of ‘molesting’ girls, said a top police officer.

Karachi West Zone DIG Amir Farooqi told Dawn that the victim girl has provided vital information to the investigators but “social pressure and weak laws” were main impediments for the police to proceed against the four arrested accused.

Mr Farooqi revealed that the girl told the police that one of the four suspects had “promised” to help her get a job.
