KARACHI: Samnabad police on Friday arrested four young men for allegedly making pornographic videos of girls after raping them.

Karachi West Zone DIG Amir Farooqi told Dawn that the parents of the girls lodged complaints before the police that the men made objectionable videos of their daughters after raping them.

“On their complaint, we launched a manhunt and with the help of modern technology detained four suspects,” he said.

“A video of a girl was also seized from the custody of one of the detained suspects besides illegal weapons. On their social media account, arms can be seen,” the police officer added.

The DIG further said the parents were reluctant to become formal complainant in the FIR as they thought it would give their families a bad name.

During the initial probe, the arrested accused ‘confessed’ that they had been involved in the practice for the last two years, had raped four girls and subsequently made their videos.

Since the parents were not willing to become complainants, the police registered a case against them for possessing illegal weapons.

Meanwhile, the accused were presented before a judicial magistrate (Central) who remanded them in judicial custody till March 28.
