QUETTA: Two people were killed and six others injured in an explosion in the house of a cleric in Qila Saifullah on Thursday night.

Official sources said the powerful blast occurred in the house of Maulvi Habibullah Jogezai who was among the deceased.

The sources said that some people were loading some items on a tractor-trolley inside the house when the blast took place and consequently a fire broke out.

“The house was destroyed in the blast,” Balochistan Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti said.

Nizamuddin, a local journalist, said there were reports that at least four people were killed.

However, Deputy Commissioner of Qila Saifullah Shafqat Anwar Shahwani confirmed only two deaths.
