GUJRAT: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan says now it is Shahbaz Sharif’s turn to go, after the success of “Go Nawaz Go” campaign as enthusiasm will defeat those with money and vested interests in the next general elections.

PTI chairman was speaking at different rallies held at various towns of the district on Tuesday, including Tanda Jalalpur Jattan, Lalamusa, Kharian and Sara-i-Alamgir, besides the district headquarters.

With reference to Shahbaz Sharif’s election as president of the PML-N, the PTI chief said now the “godfather’s” younger brother “Don” had come to the fore.

Continuing with his anti-Sharifs tirade, he said the Sharif family had been plundering the country for the last 30 years, promising to bring back the “looted wealth” that was transferred abroad, to spend it on education, hospitals, and employment for youth to transform Pakistan into a welfare state.

Mr Khan, however, did not mention his other favourite Asif Ali Zardari in his speech, apparently in the backdrop of recent collaboration of the PTI’s senators with the PPP’s for election of Senate chairman.

In Gujrat city the PTI chief first spoke at a workers’ camp at Kutchehry Chowk. After that his convoy stopped at the GTS Chowk along old GT Road where three different stages had been prepared by rival groups in the local ranks of the party, respectively led by Afzal Gondal, Usman Manzoor Dhudra and Saleem Jaura.

Mr Khan, however, preferred to address the party workers, mainly its youth wing, from the roof of his jeep to avoid any controversy.

He said there was no comparison between Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Nawaz Sharif since even the enemies would call the Quaid “Sadiq and Ameen” (truthful and trustworthy), unlike the latter, “whose entire family was known for stealing the nation’s wealth”.

He reiterated his pledge to restore honour of the “green passport” and build a “new Pakistan” after coming into power in 2018 elections.

Mr Khan pledged to introduce international standard education in the public schools so that “a student of some local institution can also become prime minister of the country.”

Earlier, he also spoke at a doctors’ convention in a local banquet hall along Gujrat-Jalalpur Jattan road where he had a lunch with the local medical fraternity.
