KARACHI: With a win already under his belt, bay horse Day Breaker justified his credentials while galloping to a fluent three lengths victory over mare Afreen to lift the Luxurious Cup in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Saturday.

Owned by Zia-ur-Rehman and sent by trainer Tanveer Abbasi, the victorious horse was efficiently ridden home by young rider Asad Aksir.

Five-year-old chestnut horse Ayyash was placed third on the board a length and-a-quarter behind while mare Salam Kashmir completed the frame further beaten by a length among five starters.

In a late burst, the 60 to 100 favourite chestnut horse Olympus One came from behind to get the better of front runner Race by four-and-a-half lengths to clinch the day’s feature event.

The triumph helped Olympus One to made it two-in-a-row having already won the Sunken Moon Cup.

King Of Kashmir had to be content with third place four lengths away with Lovely Baby completing the frame beaten by neck.

The significant feature of the race was that Race was ridden by Asad Aksir and King Of Kashmir by his father Aksir A who has returned from England recently.

At the outset, public fancy mare Arrogant Lady won her maiden race by getting the better of bay horse Bravo by four-and-a-half lengths.

Load Shedding and Sea Gold occupied the following two positions on board respectively.

Rider Lateef escaped unhurt when he fall from his mount Popular Prize while negotiating the bend in the opening race.

Favourite bay horse Blue Revenue obliged all and sundry while returning victorious in the second race.

Blue Revenue won the race as he pleased by seven lengths while prevailing over Mission Possible.

Lucky Lady settled third seven-and-a-half lengths away while Second Life completed the frame.

Both Arrogant Lady and Blue Revenue were parterned by trainer M. Mazhar who completed a double.

Meanwhile, Dr Farhan Essa Abdullah Abedin was nominated as chairman of the KRC after the place was fallen vacant due to resignation of Faisal Farooq who has moved to UAE, the KRC secretary Ali Akbar Shah Rashdi told Dawn.
