SIALKOT, Jan 7: A villager sustained serious injuries in firing by Indian troops on bordering Joyaan village of the Sialkot working boundary’s Charwa sector late Sunday night.

Official sources said Muhammad Shafi and his family were shifting to a safer place when some bullets hit him, injuring him seriously. He was admitted to the Sialkot CMH in critical condition.

They said seven more houses were badly damaged as a consequence of firing on Monday by Indian security forces in villages of Chhumb Joriyaan, Bajwat, Charwa, Zafarwal and Shakargarh sectors.

PROTESTED: Residents of Sambrial on Monday protested against the prolonged suspension of water supply.

It is learnt that the Gepco had disconnected all power connections of the Sambrial Municipal Committee due to the non-payment of dues.

Protesters alleged the Daska Tehsil Municipal Administration had miserably failed in releasing required funds to the authorities concerned for clearing the outstanding power bills of the Sambrial municipality.
