DADU, May 13: The irrigation department announced on Friday that 900 cusecs of polluted water was released from the Manchhar Lake into the Indus River. A duty officer of the Dadu irrigation division, Mr Inayat Ali, told reporters that 900 cusecs of water from the lake was released into the river through Aral Wah.

He said still there was 108.75RL water available in the lake.

He said water flow downstream of Sukkur barrage was 33,551 cusecs.

GASTROENTERITIS: A woman suffering from gastroenteritis died at the Dadu Civil Hospital on Friday.

She has been identified as Hidayat Khatoon, 40, wife of Bakhshal Mallah of the Dunara village, Khairpur Nathan Shah taluka.

In another incident, Ali Mohammad, 28, son of Khan Mohammad Panhwar, resident of Dadu, died of gastroenteritis in a private hospital on Friday.

SUICIDE: A youth, Aijaz Chandio, committed suicide by taking pesticide over a domestic problem in Sita Road on Friday.
