KARACHI: A fire that broke out on several floors of the New Sindh Secretariat building on Saturday morning was brought under control after hectic efforts of over two hours, said an official.

Amid the huge fire, the fate of the official records kept inside the rooms of the two floors has become uncertain.

However, fire officials said that timely action of the firefighters restricted the fire from reaching the inner side of the building.

The fire officials ruled out the possibility of any act of sabotage behind the incident and blamed a short circuit for the blaze.

The fire was first seen in the balcony of the third floor, which travelled to the sixth floor within no time.
