RAWALPINDI, May 13: Additional Sessions Judge Chaudhry Habibur Rehman here on Friday ordered the Rawalpindi police to register an FIR against a sub-inspector who allegedly detained a citizen and tortured him. The ASI ordered the police to register a case against the SI after the counsel of Abdul Ghafoor filed a petition, alleging that his client was picked up by Sub-Inspector Malik Hanif of Kallar Syedan in connection with the killing of the man. He was forced by the SI to record his statement as the police wanted.

Abdul Ghafoor was shackled and detained by the SI for about 72 hours during which he sustained wounds.

The detainee was rescued after his family filed a petition in the court which ordered registration of a case against the SI.
