ISLAMABAD: Three people were killed and 10 injured in a road accident here on Wednesday, police said.

The incident took place at Shahdara where a packed passenger pickup heading towards Aabpara plunged into a ravine as the driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a turn.

As a result all 13 passengers of the vehicles suffered injuries.

The police and rescue workers reached the spot and shifted the injured to hospital where three of them were pronounced dead.

The deceased were identified as Nawazish 28, Abdul Ahad, 15 and Murad, 40. The injured, including the driver of the vehicle were given medical assistance and some of them kept in the hospital under observation.

The Bhara Kahu police said the brakes of the vehicle failed. As a result the driver lost control over the vehicle and hence the accident took place.
