CCE- 2018

Published February 21, 2018

MANY government employees have applied for the Combined Competitive Examinations (CCE), 2018. In 2013, the minimum age for for the CCE was 21 years and maximum 28 years on Sept 1, 2013, and for those who had four years of government service, the upper age limit was 35 years.

However, for this years’ combined examinations the minimum age is 21 years and maximum age is 30 years on Sept 1, 2018, with two years of general relaxation. For those candidates who have four years of government service, the upper-age limit is surprisingly the same, that is 35 years. It should be 37 years (with two years of general relaxation).

If normal candidates are getting two years of general relaxation , why then aren’t government employees getting the same general relaxation of two years?

In the CSS examinations, government employees working on a contract basis on projects or in various other organisations are also getting the same age relaxation similar to what is offered to permanent employees. However, in the advertisement for the Sindh Public Service Commission’s Combined Competitive Examinations, 2018, nothing is mentioned about the inclusion of age relaxation for government contractual employees.

THE Sindh Public Service Commission has lately announced it would conduct Combined Competitive Examinations (CCE)-2018. Undoubtedly, it offers a wonderful opportunity to all aspirants who have been eagerly waiting for the examinations for the last five years.

The authorities concerned should hold the examinations within the stipulated time, and should not fall prey to the baseless demands of over-aged students who have appeared more than once in the examination. I do believe that this time the commission will conduct the examinations in a transparent manner and restore merit to the province.

It is rather a commendable step taken by the SPSC and I hope the Commission will stick to its commitment.
